Dr. Kumar and Dr. Sharma from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering participated in-person in the 13thJoint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS-2023) held in the Madrid (Capital city of Spain), from August 27thto September 1st, 2023.
JEMS-2023, organized in collaboration with the European Magnetism Association (EMA), held at the Faculty of Medicine on the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) main campus. This symposium brought together a diverse array of experts and enthusiasts passionat
e about magnetism, covering a spectrum of topics, from magnetic materials for energy and information technology to biomagnetism, quantum technology, spintronics, and more. It was a melting pot of cutting-edge research and innovation in the realm of magnetism.
The conference adopted a hybrid format, offering both in-person and online engagement. Plenary, semi-plenary, and invited lectures sparked stimulating discussions during coffee breaks and poster sessions. JEMS-2023 provided a crucial platform for addressing the pivotal role of magnetism in addressing pressing technological, economic, and social challenges. One of the highlights of the event was the roundtable discussion, "The Role of Magnetism in the Green & Digital Transition," featuring international panelists from academia, industry, and key agencies. This session delved into the intersection of magnetism with the emerging green and digital transitions, offering valuable insights into the future.
Additionally, the inclusion of the "Women in Magnetism" special session was a commendable effort to foster diversity and inclusivity in the field. It allowed women at all stages of their careers to come together, share experiences, and expand their professional networks, emphasizing the importance of gender equality in magnetism. Dr Sharma participated in special event of Women in Magnetism.
Furthermore, at JEMS-2023, Dr. Poorva Sharma and Dr. Ashwini Kumar had the opportunity to showcase their research through engaging poster presentations. Dr. Sharma's poster titled "Effect of Magnetic Field on Spin Reorientation in Antiferromagnetic Eu-doped TmFeO3 Single Crystal," delved into the fascinating realm of spin reorientation in single crystals, particularly focusing on the impact of magnetic fields in the presence of europium doping. Her research provided valuable insights into the complex interplay between magnetic properties and doping elements, shedding light on potential applications.
